SQL

SQL stands for Structured Query Language. SQL is a standard computer language for accessing and manipulating databases. SQL statements are used to retrieve and update data in a database. SQL works with database programs like MS Access, DB2, Informix, MS SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, etc. MS SQL Server specific version of the SQL is called T-SQL, Oracle version of SQL is called PL/SQL, MS Access version of SQL is called JET SQL, etc.

The SQL SELECT statement is used to select data from a SQL database table. This is usually the very first SQL command every SQL newbie learns and this is because the SELECT SQL statement is one of the most used SQL commands

The SQL SELECT INTO statement is used to select data from a SQL database table and to insert it to a different table at the same time.

The SQL DISTINCT clause is used together with the SQL SELECT keyword, to return a dataset with unique entries for certain database table column.

The SQL UPDATE clause changes the data in already existing database row(s) and usually we need to add a conditional SQL WHERE clause to our SQL UPDATE statement in order to specify which row(s) we intend to update.

Ready to quit ICL if PCB recalls me to national side: Rana

Pakistan fast bowler Rana Navedul Hasan has said he would severe ties with the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) takes some initiative to recall him and other players to the national squad.

Hasan said he wants to play for the country, and that the decision to consider the ICL players for selection in the national team rests with the PCB.

"We are all here to serve our country, if the PCB wants us to," the Daily Times quoted Hasan, as saying.

Hasan along with Imran Nazir and Abdul Razzaq was named in the list of probables for the World Twenty20 tournament by the PCB, but the board, fearing a potential face-off with the International Cricket Council (ICC), omitted all the three players from the list later.

While the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has offered 'amnesty' for the ICL players, the PCB had already clarified that it would be considering return of the players' only on a case-to-case basis.

According to sources, the PCB is under pressure from different quarters to allow the rebel players to represent Pakistan in international arena to give a fitting reply to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), which is being blamed to have played a major role in influencing the ICC to snatch the hosting rights of the 2011 World Cup from Pakistan.

Origins of Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the natural healing system of India. In Sanskrit, the word «Ayurveda» means ‘science of life’. «Ayu» means life or daily living, and «Veda» means knowing. Ayurveda helps a healthy person to maintain health, and a diseased person to regain health. It is both a medical and metaphysical healing science. It includes herbal medicines, dietetics, bodywork, surgery, psychology and spirituality. In Ayurveda the creative force ‘Dhanvantari’ the divine healer, symbolizes Brahma.

All Ayurveda literature is based on the Satkya philosophy of creation. ‘Sat’ means ‘truth’ and ‘Kya’ means ‘to seek’, ‘to know’. The ancient Rishis, or realized beings, discovered truth by means of religious practices, discipline and intensive meditations. Rishis and sages like Shushrutacharya, Charakacharya, Vagbaht, Sarangdhar, etc created great commentaries, contributing their efforts and insights to make it available to all of us.

Ayurveda is concerned with eight principal branches of medicine, collectively called ‘Ashtang Ayurveda’. These are pediatrics, gynaecology, obstetrics, ophthalmology, geriatrics, otolaryngology, general medicine and surgery. All these medical specialities are addressed according to the theories of the five elements (Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth), the Tridoshas or bodily humors (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), the seven Dhatus or bodily tissues, the three Malas or waste (urine, stool and sweat), and spiritual growth. Any imbalance between the body, mind and environment begins the process of disease. The treatment not only works on the disease but also emphasizes on achieving better health, longevity and awareness.
